Carjackers beat two men in separate hijacking attempts downtown overnight: ‘Hopefully, my eye won’t be compromised’

A group of attackers beat and tried to carjack a man after he parked in River North early Friday, leaving him with a concussion and an eye that's swollen shut. Minutes later, another driver was beaten and successfully carjacked by a group of men just a couple of blocks away.

On Thursday, 16 adults made appearances for new cases in Chicago felony bond court — and half of them were on bond for other cases when they allegedly committed the new crime.
