Would I buy these again?

You know when you buy something different from your normal choice and then wish maybe you hadn't.....
Well, I was shopping in the supermarket the other week and needed some minced steak, I had seen an offer on the internet which seemed a good price, but when I got to the store I couldn't find any, after a few minutes flapping about my hubby said Oh just get that one, it will be ok.....I gave in and heres what I think!

Defrosted this morning and its looking a bit fatty and very finely minced, lets cook it and see...

Mmm....not looking too good, I don't have all this fatty liquid with my usual.

A good drain in the sieve and rinsed thoroughly and its looking better.  Back into the pan to dry it off a bit and then into the slow cooker.

I added some healthy ingredients to make a bolognaise.

Its actually looking good and doesn't smell too bad either.  I will cook it slow all day and then give an update tonight.

I also thought I would mention these.....

I bought these a while ago at our Mill shop they were 3 boxes for £1. I know they were cheap but they are not to our liking, they are very salty, I have used one in the bolognaise instead of salt, i thought it might add a bit of flavour since I washed the juices off the meat along with the fat.  I won't buy them again.

In future I think I will stick to what I usually buy and know we like, but you never know until you have tried it. I do still have another pack of the meat in the freezer as it was a multi buy, I will probably use that in a Chilli later in the month.

Having said all that, I am still looking forward to my tea tonight, pasta bolognaise and a crispy side salad. :-)

So far its a lovely day here, after a few days of heavy showers its quite sunny, everything in the garden and greenhouse is growing and hubby's new grass is showing through.  Washing is on the line and its time for a nice cuppa.

Catch you later with my verdict :-)

After long slow cooking, the bolognaise sauce was lovely, I quickly boiled 100 gm of pasta twists then stirred it into a portion of the sauce and let it stand to soak up the flavours. It wasn't at all greasy so the extra prep of the meat was worthwhile. We had salad and a few roasted veggies with it, no garlic bread as we are trying to be good, the remainder has been portioned up and will go into the freezer for another time.

                                                                 Delicious!!

Take care
